The A minor pentatonic scale covered in this lesson is first taught in the fifth position and then again starting in the third position with a few position shifts that will get you to the upper end of the scale which ends in the eigth position. At the end of this video you should be aquainted with both minor pentationic scale patterns – if you are just starting with these shapes you can expect to practice regularly for a few months before they start to feel comfortable. This scale is usually associated with American Blues music but is found almost everywhere.

Many guitarists like Jimi Hendrix, The Allman Brothers, BB King, Eric Clapton and more, have mastered the minor pentatonic scale to the point where they can play around with it as if they are articulating speech. Have fun!
